چکیده
Background: Plantago lanceolata L. (ribwort plantain) and major (broadleaf are widely used in ethnobotanical studies for treating various diseases. This study aims to investigate the antimicrobial activity chemical compounds of these plants. Methods: The leaf extracts P. were fractioned using different solvents. phytochemical screening was carried out by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method. antibacterial assessed disc diffusion method, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) bactericidal concentrations (MBC) measured microtiter-broth dilution Results: dichloromethane extract showed highest against Salmonella paratyphi (diameter inhibition zone: 18.83 20.00 mm, respectively) at 100 mg/mL concentration. lowest MIC related both plants S. (500 µg/mL). MBC (1000 µg/mL) paratyphi. main bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (41.96%), 1-methoxy-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)nonane (32.69%), bicyclo[3.1.1]heptane, 2,6,6-trimethyl- (1.alpha.,2.beta.,5.alpha.)- (10.45%), cycloheptasiloxane tetradecamethyl- (27.96% 31.33%). eicosane (23.62%), cyclohexasiloxane dodecamethyl- (18.21%), 1-methyl-3-n-propyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one (18.08%), (33.85%), 1,2-benzisothiazole-3-acetic acid, methyl ester (34.26%). Conclusion: Fractionation methanolic can help better isolate active components from properties two may be due presence detected GC-MS.

Plantain (Plantago lanceolata) – a potential pasture species
Plantago lanceolata L. is a herb species with a broad distribution in grasslands throughout the temperate world. The leaf is highly palatable to grazing animals, providing a mineralrich forage. The species is rapid to establish, grows on a wide range of agricultural soils and is tolerant of drought and of many common diseases and pests. Two productive upright cultivars of plantain have been bre...
متن کاملEffects of Plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.) Herb and Heat Exposure on Plasma Glucose Metabolism in Sheep
An experiment was conducted using a [6, 6-H]glucose isotope dilution method to determine the effects of plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.) on plasma glucose metabolism in sheep taken from a thermoneutral environment and exposed to a hot environment. The sheep were fed either mixed hay (MH) of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) and reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) at a 60:40 ratio or ...
متن کاملEffect of defoliation strategies on the productivity, population and morphology of plantain (Plantago lanceolata)
This trial provided information about effects of defoliation frequency, defoliation intensity and winter management (grazing or rest) on the productivity, morphology and plant population of a 3-year-old plantain (Plantago lanceolata) stand. Plant population density declined drastically over time independently of grazing management, with the greatest decrease in summer. Winter grazing had a crit...
